The Periyar River Resort is almost like out of Wordsworth’s poems. The lodge is so beautifully done up and the river front is like the cherry on the cake. The food was splendid and our boat ride was so serene and lovely. It feels like one day isn’t good enough for experiencing this kind of a set up. Now , for the person who made our stay here very special Mr. Luigi is extremely warm and hospitable. He ia a man who made our stay exceptionally homely from taking care of my cold by providing me with lemon tea, to playing ( rather teaching me ) scrabble, he was lovely. A big thank you to him. Mr. Eldhose and Lissy also deserve a thank you for the food and hospitable behaviour. All in all , it was a beautiful experience and this is a home away from home. Lots of love and hope to come back really soon.

The Periyar River Lodge is a “ mini – paradise” in God’s Own Country . Far away from the hustle and bustle of city life, we have found the time to enjoy nature as a family. 2017 could not have started better. The time spent here will be a cherished memory for a long time – be it a dip in the river, the boat trip, a bird watching expedition ( thanks to the lively Mr. Gireesh ), scrabble in the lazy afternoons, some toddy under the trees overlooking the river.... Mr. Luigi is a man of all occasions and he has left no stone unturned to take care of us. The food has sumptuous, prepared by Mrs.Lissy Eldhose’s wife and served by the ever – smiling Mr. Eldhose. A special word of gratitude for the couple. We came here as busy individuals – enslaved by our dependence on our electronic devices. We go back – charged with some much needed family bonding. Thank you for the memorable hospitality.

What a special place. Shining views, beautiful birdsong and truly special architecture. Luigi, you are a gracious host. The food was delicious ( although I’d take more spice, despite my children). What a shame we are here for only one night. I would love to retreat here for a few days. Swinging on the bed and listening to the lullabies. Thank you.

It was a wonderful experience to have such a relaxing holiday with nature. It is so serene and the boat ride was amazing experience. My kids for the first time took a dip in the river. Mr. Luigi is a wonderful person and so gentle and nice. He takes care so nicely that you feel so comfortable. The food was just amazing, had a lifetime experience. Mr. Eldhose and his wife are also very generous. Thanks for everything. Everything was wonderful. The breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious. The boat trip and the house was very awesome ! It is a great place for holiday and relaxing. The river was very cold, but fun. I got to learn more about birds and their names. The bird which i liked the most was the snake bird.

Wonderful relaxing retreat after busy Cochin. Enjoyed every moment. The food was terrific and always plenty of it. Thanks to Luigi for arranging our boat trips, bike riding and everything else. He made our stay relaxing and easy. Thanks to Eldhose and Mrs Lissy for all the delicious food. We will leave here a couple of kgs heavier. This is a perfect place for a peaceful, calm and relaxed time! Wonderful hospitality by Mr. Luigi and Eldhose, awesome food by Mrs. Lissy beautiful compliment the serene surroundings. We had a wonderful time here for a couple of days . This is again a must see place for bird watchers and amateur bird enthusiasts , if not, a trip with Mr. Gireesh ( a great birder ) is bound to get you interested in birds. Black Bazza, Woodpecker, Hornbill and many more. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. The best of nature along with all comforts of this gem ! Keep it up ! Thank you.

An absolutely delightful stay. Charming host. Luigi, Eldhose and the master chef Lissy made our stay so special and unique. So a huge thank you to all of you. We had the most wonderful bird watching experience with Gireesh and saw the rare Sri Lankan frogmouth and Black Bazza. Amazing everything amazing !!

An amazing place. What more could you ask for than a fantastic location, amazing bird life, comfortable surroundings and delicious food. Mr. Luigi has been so kind and helpful ! Helped to sort out money problems due to banks / ATM cash being limited, arranged transport and bird watching trips. Nothing has been too much trouble for him. A big thank you to Eldhose and his wife for providing yummy food ! We will certainly recommend this wonderful place to our friends and family.

We had a fantastic time here. The place is serene, picturesque and teeming with amazing birds. Waking up to beautiful bird songs and the perfect view was the highlight of our stay. The superb service provided by Mr.Luigi to make sure we had a perfect holiday from picking us up at the airport, to organise a fabulous bird guide, to helping us exchange our old notes at the local bank to organizing scrumptious food for us .... he did it all. A big thanks to Eldhose and his wife for providing us with excellent food. Couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. A big THANK YOU to Mr. Gireesh for superb birding.

Periyar River Lodge has lived up to expectation. My family and I visited based on good reviews from my sister and found it even exceeded the expectations. The peaceful serenity of the resort coupled with the scenic water, especially the boat ride was very enthralling.

We booked this on the recommendation of a friend but had no idea it would be so totally amazing ! Everything about this place exceeded our expectations . We will have some very special memories of our time here. A big thank you to Luigi, Eldhose and his wife for the care and attention they gave us and the wonderful, tasty food.
